You: I don't believe in God.
Stranger: why not?
You: It's not logic.
Stranger: because if you did believe in him, your life would be better. all of your sins would be forgiven. if you felt guilty ask for forgiveness, guilt is gone. ask to relieve pain..pain is gone. god will give you grace. please, just try him out (:
Stranger: he created the universe. also, you prolly don't want to burn in hell all of eternity!
You: Why could the cause of the universe not be something like an eternal, immutable God who needs no cause for his existence? Well, the mere existence of God, or of any other object, could not causally explain why the universe came into existence. It must be something about God which does the explaining, such as his willing the universe to exist. But has he, for all time willed the universe to exist? Why then, did it not come into existence sooner?
